Its always good to customize your twitter page to stand out from the crowd a little bit. If you dont have the time or skills to create your own background image then feel free to grab one of these brought to you by GoldenBlogging. We have provided the files in Photoshop .PSD format for you to download and customize.

We have used standard Windows system fonts – Arial and Arial narrow so you can edit in your name, details and relevent Urls.

You can insert your own photo in place of the cartoon character, or you want to create your own cartoon character you can use this great site – Face Your Manga, simply create a likeness of yourself and the site will email you the image which you can use on these backgrounds.

Once you have added the background image in Twitter, you will need to also enter the background color to match the image – we have provided you with the correct color code to use for each. The patterned backgrounds (wood, water and grass) do not require this.

Publicising your twitter feed on your blog is common practice nowdays as the two work well together – you can gain more followers from your blog and gain more readership of your blog via twitter. To spice up the link to your twitter feed, a good way is to include a graphic with the link, like we do here on Golden Blogging (see our sidebar). A number of designers have kindly made some for you to download free so here is a round up of the best ones we could find.

4. Smashing Magazine – Birdies: A Free Twitter Icon Set, a set of 12 beautiful and lovely Twitter icons. This set was designed by IconEden and released exclusively for Smashing Magazine and its readers.

5. Webdesign.fm – These 4 happy go lucky birds can be used on your blog or website to encourage others to share your content or to follow you on Twitter. These icons are available in PSD and PNG formats.

6. Twittericon – A large selection of twitter graphics with the relevent codes to hotlink them on your website

7. Function – Free Illustration, beautifully made by Pasquale D’Silva, and a couple of Icons which you can use for your twitter status sections of your site. The file is a transparent background PNG, so can easily be imported and scaled into any design.

8. Chris Wallace – Free Twitter icon set with three cute little baby Twitter birds for you to enjoy. The icon set includes four different  .PNG image sets (32×32, 48×48, and 80×80) and the original .AI file so you can modify and create different variations
